When the Electorate ( Public ) has to resort to Rail Roko , Sadak Roko , Dharnas to register their grievances / anguish , it means total collective failure of Democratic Institutions ( State Assembly , Parliament etc ) and the elected MLA s/ MP s. People come on the streets because of a lack of communication with our Elected representatives who forget the Public , once elected , for the next 5 years.
Example , I wish to seek Free Electricity / Petrol at Cost Price i.e. Rs. 20 Per Liter for Physically Handicapped Punjabis. Who do I approach / petition ?. Are Dharna s the only way to make my voice heard ? If so , then this is not Democracy.
