The first White men / Europeans to come to India were PORTUGUESE.
Portuguese were called by Indians as PUR-TEH - GAYZ and their language PUR-TEH GAY-ZEE
When another White men ( English men ) came to India , the words PURTEHGAYZ / PURTEHGAYZEE became ANG -REZ / ANG-REZ-EE
