ONA Meet Held on 31-08-14 at Chandimandir Cantt

Old Nabhaites Association ( ex students of Punjab Public School, Nabha ) Meet was held in the exquisite Officers' Mess of 12 Signal Corps at Chandimandir Cantt.

The Meeting was hosted by Col Dheeraj Chandola and other Nabhaites.There was a grand lunch in the tastefully furnished Dining Room of the Officers 'Mess

The Meeting was chaired by ONA President , Gen Tej Kumar Sapru.

MINUTES

Dear Old Nabhaites,

A meeting was held of Old Nabhaites on 31 August 2014 at Officers' Mess, 12 Signal Group, Chandimandir, followed by Lunch.

The meeting was presided over by Lt Gen TK Sapru, PVSM, YSM (Retd), President ONA.

Members from ONA Chandigarh, Jalandhar and Nabha Chapters were present.

The agenda for the meeting was ONA Golden Jubilee Celebrations, which are scheduled on 11, 12 and 13 April 2015. 

Minutes of the Meeting. The minutes of the meeting are given below:-

(a)   Attendance at ONA Meetings. The attendance at the meeting was very thin, as had been the case on certain previous occasions. Based on suggestions from members, the following decisions were taken for getting more Old Nabhaites to attend, in future:-

      (i)     The data base of members be updated to include not only email IDs but also phone numbers. Intimation of meetings be done by SMS, in addition to sending emails. 

      (ii)    The invitation to such meetings be for the spouses and adult children too. 

      (iii)   The meeting should be organised alongwith some recreational activity, to make them more interesting.

      (iv)   Batch wise networking be strengthened. Intimation of the meetings be done within batches through means such as WhatsApp. All members to ensure that the attendance from their respective batches is maximum. The batch having maximum attendance will be given 50% subsidy in that particular meetings subscription, provided they can get at least 5% attendance from their preceding / succeeding batch as well.

      (v)    The later generations of Old Nabhaites be involved in the organising of events / meetings.

 

      (vi)   The President  himself would soon be approaching all Old Nabhaites through emails to improve attendance in future meetings.

(b)   Minutes of Meetings. Minutes of all meetings will be circulated by email to all Old Nabhaites.

(c)   Annual Subscription. The decision during the last ONA Meeting (March 2014, Chandigarh) of having an Annual Subscription of Rs 500.00 per member, was reiterated. All members were requested to deposit Rs 500.00 for the Year 2014-15 with ONA.

(d)   VoluntarySubscriptions for ONA Golden Jubilee Celebrations. The voluntary subscriptions for ONA Golden Jubilee Celebrations have not yet picked up. The present committment is only Rs 205500.00, out of which only Rs 95500.00 have actually been received. The expenditure for such an event is expected to be in the range of Rs 50 to 70 Lacs. All members were requested to send their generous voluntary contributions, at the earliest. The details of subscriptions committed / received are given in an attachment.

(e)   Mandatory Charges for Old Nabhaites Attending ONA Golden Jubilee Celebrations. It was decided that despite inflation over the last few years, the mandatory charges for Old Nabhaites attending the celebrations would be the same as for the PPS Golden Jubilee Celebrations held in 2010. To cater for the expenditure over and above this subscription, the voluntary subscriptions are expected to suffice.

(f)   Sponsorships. As almost all batches have Old Nabhaites placed well in the corporate world, efforts may be made by individual batches themselves to get corporate sponsorships.

(g)   Events for ONA Golden Jubilee. 

      (i)    ONA Nabha Chapter will be organising a Cross Country Run in November 2014. The President sanctioned Rs 1.00 Lac from the ONA Golden Jubilee Celebration Fund for the same. The remaining expenditure will be met by the ONA Nabha Chapter themselves.

      (ii)   The President requested all chapters to organise more events for the celebrations. As the time is running short, this activity required expediting by all chapters. 

(h)   Souvenirs for ONA Golden Jubilee. The following souvenirs were decided:-

      (i)    T Shirt. Gursharan Singh (B-112, 1970) was requested to take on this responsibility. 

      (ii)   Mugs. A set of two mugs was decided as the other souvenir. It was decided that Mr Pal Bachan Singh would take on this responsibility.

Colonel Karan Singh Thandi (S-86, 1970) made a commitment of a minimum of Rs 1.00 Lac voluntary contribution on behalf of 1970 batch. Pal Bachan Singh committed Rs 5000.00 towards the same cause.

The President appreciated the spirit of ONA abroad and made a special mention of the commendable efforts of our ONA in Toronto (TONA), Surrey (SONA) and California (CONA). Thanking them for the marvellous functions organised by these chapters, he mentioned that they had promised that they will attend the Golden Jubilee of the ONA (11 - 13 April 2015), in large numbers; and hoped for a similar response from other overseas chapters especially the one in UK.

The meeting was concluded with much appreciation for and gratitude to Colonel Dheeraj Chandola for having organised it so well. 

Voluntary / Annual Subscriptions. Old Nabhaites are requested to send their voluntary subscriptions and / or annual subscriptions by one of the following means:-

(a)     By cheque, favouring "ONA Golden Jublee Celebration Fund". 

(b)     By Demand Draft, favouring "ONA Golden Jublee Celebration Fund", payable at Nabha.
