As an Indian
woman, I have suffered various forms of groping, touching and verbal
abuse. As an Indian woman I have had to deal with fear - of being
judged, of sexual assault, of walking alone at night.
But it’s not just India - I was shocked to find out that globally, one in three women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. That’s ONE BILLION mothers, daughters, sisters, partners and friends violated.
This needs to change! One Billion Rising is a promise that we will rise up, irrespective of our gender or nationality to say “Enough! The violence ends now!”
On February 14th, 2013, we want one billion women and those who love them to walk out, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to this violence.

I will join them too. I will rise and dance with the amazing women and men of India.
This is a call for you, to join me and pledge to rise up, and take a stand.
Sign the pledge, and tomorrow we will send you a list of events in various cities that you can attend.
Let’s heal and transform ourselves to transform this world.
Love,
