Petrol Price Cut by Around 70 Paise- Demand For Reducing VAT

Jalandhar Thinkers want Punjab Government to stop overcharging petrol consumers ( as petrol is used mainly by the common man in scooters , motorcycles and smaller cars . Expensive vehicles use Diesel )

Paise 70  less per liter is only a token cut but welcome nevertheless . Now , the Government should decontrol Diesel as well so that ( on Vote Bank considerations ) petrol consumers are not made to cross subsidise diesel.. Secondly , Punjab Government should reduce VAT and stop overcharging petrol consumers who are currently paying nearly Rs. 8 per liter more  than in  neighbouring Haryana.

In the Assembly elections , massive over charging on petrol and mushrooming Toll Plazas ( where a Nano is charged at the same rate as a BMW ) are going to very important issues for the now awakened Middle Class.

Jalandhar Thinkers are discussing that when Octroi ( Choongi ) has been abolished in Punjab ( substituted by VAT  ) why is it being continued to be levied on Petrol ( urban areas only ) and on Electricity ( again Urban areas only ).

In Punjab Urban Consumers of petrol are paying both Octroi ( Choongi ) and additional VAT ( part of which is supposed to be lieu of Choongi)

Dear Old Nabhaite,

There is a sizeable number of Old Nabhaites in Amritsar. We all share in common that once all of us studied in our childhood second home, which is PPS. We walked, played, lived, studied and went through same experineces in our alma mater,of course at different times.

Many get togethers have been held of Amritsar Old Nabhaites in the past. They have been held rarely and the ONA Amritsar Chapter has never been formally established and organised.

It has been decided to bring all of us from Amritsar who once studied in PPS Nabha on a common platform and formally establish an Amritsar Chapter. We have been encouraged and supported by the parent body “Old Nabhaites Association” to do so. They would like to see an organised Amritsar Chapter that is represented in the parent body in future.They want us to be part of decision making process in ONA.The President of ONA, Lt Gen TK Sapru(Retd) ,Gen Secy IS Sidhu and Dr Jashanjot, permanent Exec member in charge of ONA Communications have been requested to attend.

It is high time we interacted and got to know each other not only because we are from same Family called PPS but also today the world runs on the “Old School ties”.  We would like that Old Nabhaites in Amritsar feel the ONA Chapter is their second family in Amritsar. In future we should be able to share each other’s happiness and come to help each other in time of need. The feeling and spirit of brotherhood among Old Nabhaites is very important as projectd in the Aims and Objectives of ONA.

Why Punish Investors in Petrol Price Roll Back ?

If the roll back of petrol is at the cost of investors then it is very poor administrative policy of the Government. Without taxes Petrol costs less than Rs. 23 per liter. Instead of penalizing the investors , Governments  ( both Centre And  State especially Punjab ) should reduce their taxes ( around 200 % of base price ). Further , Vote Bank considerations have made Governments decontrol only petrol . The entire burden of under recoveries is put on petrol and diesel etc is left untouched .  Governments should form policies on economics and not vote bank considerations

Petrol Price Reduction Should Not Be Cosmetic- Punjab Rate Should Be Same as Haryana

There are some reports that next week there may a reduction a token reduction of around Re. 1 Per Liter of Petrol

The reduction should be much more as petrol ( unlike diesel ) is mainly used by the common man ( in scooters , motorcycles , Maruti 800 , Nano etc. ) Expensive vehicles use diesel. Due to Vote Bank politics diesel prices are not touched . This leaves the common man to bear the burden of rich man's luxuries.

Petrol price in Punjab is around Rs. 7 a Liter more expensive than in Haryana

There are heavy taxes on Petrol . The actual cost of Petrol is less than Rs. 25 Per Litre.

So the reduction in Petrol price in Punjab should be Rs. 10 + Per Litre

Political parties in Punjab should do their votes calculations afresh.

Post Anna Hazare Movement , Middle Class , has emerged as the latest and potentially the Deciding factor in the forthcoming Assembly elections in Jalandhar and rest of Punjab..

For the hard working Middle Classes enough is enough and they are not going to take it lying  down any more.

Some of the boiling issues are :-

Petrol is costlier by around Rs. 7 Per Litre than neighbouring Haryana although it is sourced from same set of refineries. ( Result of Vote Bank generated cross subsidy burden ). Petrol unlike diesel is mainly used by the common man ( in scooters , motor cycles , Maruti 800 and Nano cars )

Mushrooming Toll Plazas in Punjab  where so called VIPs with terrorizing Hooters are given Salaams and free passage but Non VIP Indians like  handicapped car travelers are given no concession. Maruti 800 and Nano cars should be exempted from Toll Taxes.

Electricity consumers are divided into two categories. Paid and Free. Cross subsidies make the Paid consumers pay  more than Rs. 6 Per Unit.( while in neibhouring Himachal Pradesh the rate is around Rs. 3 Per Unit ).

The discriminatory and highly humiliating electricity category of COMMERCIAL CATEGORY for businessmen must be abolished . Every Punjabi works hard and no one should be penalized on account of Vote Bank politics.

Petrol Prices Raised By Rs. 2 -Jalandhar Citizens Flay Exploitation of Urban Middle Class

 Prices of petrol have yet again be raised by around Rs. 2 per litre from mid night of 3- 4 -11- 2011.

The exploitation of the Urban Middle Class is going  to be a big factor in the forthcoming Punjab  Assembly elections

Jalandhar citizens to accept accept any further hike in petrol prices. Petrol , unlike Diesel , is mainly used by common man in scooters and motor cycles. Petrol  in Punjab  is costliest in India because of Punjab state's VAT etc.Further , crude prices have come down in thew World markets ( so there should be reduction and not increase in Petrol prices ).

Instead of continuously increasing costs and taxes on the common man , Governments should reduce its very hefty cost of bureaucracy . The cost of Governance should be drastically cut.

People in Jalandharand rest of Punjab are commenting that, in the forthcoming Punjab Assembly Elections ,  they would vote for those candidates who promise to bring down petrol prices to the prices prevailing in Haryana ( where Petrol is around Rs. 7 cheaper than Punjab ) . Further , the Voters want relief from mushrooming Toll Plazas in Punjab.

Nano , Maruti 800 etc shouyld be exempted from Toll Taxes.

There should be exemption for the Physically Handicapped car travelers.

Congress Holds Pre Poll Rally in Jalandhar

Preparing for the forthcoming State assembly elections Congress Party held a Rally at Burlton Park Jalandhar.

In these  Assembly elections , for the first time , Middle Class ( post Anna Hazare Movement ) has become a very important Vote Bank. This segment wants reduction of Petrol prices ( to Haryana level ) , Relief in Road Toll Plazas and ending vote bank discrimination ( which some call Modern Jazia ) in electricity rates.

Burlton Park Jalandhar Renovation - Municipal Corporation Plans to Issue Bonds

In order to finance renovation of Burlton Park Sports Complex , Municipal Corporation is considering a Public Issue of Bonds worth Rs. 130 crore.

Petrol Hike - Jalandhar Citizens Strongly Oppose

Jalandhar citizens would no accept any further hike in petrol prices. Petrol , unlike Diesel , is mainly used by common man in scooters and motor cycles. Petrol  in Punjab  is costliest in India because of Punjab state's VAT etc.Further , crude prices have come down in thew World markets ( so there should be reduction and not increase in Petrol prices ).

Instead of continuously increasing costs and taxes on the common man , Governments should reduce its very hefty cost of bureaucracy . The cost of Governance should be drastically cut.

People in Jalandharand rest of Punjab are commenting that, in the forthcoming Punjab Assembly Elections ,  they would vote for those candidates who promise to bring down petrol prices to the prices prevailing in Haryana ( where Petrol is around Rs. 7 cheaper than Punjab ) . Further , the Voters want relief from mushrooming Toll Plazas in Punjab.

Nano , Maruti 800 etc shouyld be exempted from Toll Taxes.

There should be exemption for the Physically Handicapped car travelers.
