Renowned NGO " Dastak Welfare Council " carried out an Awareness Campaign in Jalandhar against the killing of butterflies . Butterflies are wantonly being trapped and cruelly killed for the sake of being used as decorative objects on photo frames.People were asked not to purchase such frames.
President of " Dastak " Prof. Sandeep Chahal ; Former Mayor of Jalandhar Jai Kishan Saini ;Former Minister Punjab Gurbux Singh , Bhupinder Singh were among the dignitories present.
It was informed that in India alone more than 100 species of butterflies are on the endangered list.
