Punjab Government has finalised the details of starting the hospital services at the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences ( PIMS ) , spred over 60 acres at the erstwhile Ganna Farm ( Garha Road ) Jalandhar. A public private partnership ( PPP) agreement has been signed with an NRI company. The hospital would start functioning in October 2009 . The first ( pioneer ) batch of MBBS would commence next year ( Jul 2010 ) . Very good news for pre medical students.
Starting of PIMS would bring quality medical care ( on lines with PGI , Chandigarh ) to Jalandhar citizens and around. Hopefully , the fees charged would be reasonable .
Now it is extremely important that the main approach road to PIMS from Bus stand side is decongested. Presently, hundreds of vehicles get stranded when ever the Nakodar Railway line Phatak closes. Passing through Defence Colony is , also ,very difficult .
A flyover ( ROB ) over the Nakodar railway line is urgently required so that ambulances etc do not lose valuable time at the railway crossing.
