Sant Baba Ramanand Cremated- Jalandhar Remains Peaceful

Last rites of Sant Baba Ramanand of Dera Sach Khand, Ballan, Jalandhar were performed at 3.30 pm with full state honour. Punjab Police reversed arms and sounded the last post. Under full religious norms the funeral pyre was lit by Sant Baba Surinder Dass Bawa of the Dera. Lakhs of mourning devotees who had gathered at the Dera from Jalandhar and out side, paid a tearful farewell to their departed religious leader. Elaborate arrangements were made by the Dera authorities in making arrangements for " Langar " at multiple convenient places and cold water ( To-day was a very hot day. ). Hundreds of Dera volunteers ensured orderly management . Barricades and temporary railings were erected to facilitate orderly movement of the devotees.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, UP Chief Minister Mayawati, Kalyan Singh and many other prominent political and religious leaders were present.

There was no untoward incident in Jalandhar. People, especially those coming from out side, faced inconvenience due to highway traffic restrictions ,the city remained peaceful.
