Despite assurances from the Transport Minister , the joint action committee of Punbus and Punjab Roadways observed a strike on 17-12-2008 .Around 1700 buses remained off roads . This caused avoidable inconvenience to thousands of bus passengers .
The Jalandhar Bus Stand wore a deserted look . Rickshaws , Autos , daily wagers and other businessmen who depend on Bus stand for livelihood were also hit.
