Jalandhar Nakodar Branch Railway Line is getting, after around 100 years , a new set of conrete sleepers. The wooden sleepers being replaced are as old as the Railway Line, Simultaneousy, the steel tracks are also being replaced, after around 35 years. This would prepare the track for carrying trains faster. Nakodar Railway Line extends to Ferozepur, via Malsian and Shahkot. Hopefully, in near future this route to Pakistan ( Kasur ) may be made operational.
The new sleepers and tracks would, also facilitate the opening of a sub-urban station/Halt at Urban Estate which would enable residents to travel to the Bus stand and Railway Station, a great facility in the absence of any worthwhile public transport system in Jalandhar.
